This course's front nine is hilly compared to its back nine. The large greens are very fast. Four ponds come into play on the front nine, while one pond and two ditches come into play on the back nine. The fairways range from generously open to insidiously narrow. The signature hole is #4, a 580-yard, par 5, requiring a tee shot out of a tree-lined chute to a fairway guarded by a pond on the left, then an approach shot to a large green protected in front by a creek. For thirty-one years this club has been hosting the Western Maryland Amateur Tournament.

I have played this course many, many times and I absolutely love it. I first learned how to play golf at this course when I was 13 years old. That was 11 years ago and I still enjoy playing the course. Everyone who works and plays there is very nice and I can't wait until this season begins. Golf has taught me a lot about respect and I respect this golf course and the people who make it great to play here. Thank you Oakland Country Club!!

Marshall Canyon Golf Club
"Trickier than you think and don't EVER walk."
Marshall Canyon is a fun course with some quirky holes but for the most part it is pretty fair. The greens are trickier than you think and there are some hole placements that totally suck if you get above the hole. It is a hilly course that you don't want to walk unless you are in very good walking shape. All in all, it is a good course with a decent price.

"A Classic golf Course"
Bass Rocks in my opinion is an ideal kind of golf course. Every time you play is different. The winds off the ocean can be a help at times. However, other times it can play havoc with your game. The course forces you to play almost every kind of shot there is. From high flops to knock downs, it will test your game. The staff is second to none. Friendly and always willing to offer a tip or two that will help make your round more enjoyable. The members make you feel right at home. Like they have known you for years, even if you just met. In my personal opinion, every town should have a club like Bass Rocks.
