This course, located only twelve miles from the DC district line, is known for its large, well-bunkered, undulating greens. The tree-lined fairways vary in width, and there are water hazards that come into play on six holes. The signature hole is #11, a 401-yard, par 4, requiring a 230-yard carry from the back tees over a pond to fairway that slopes right to left, then an approach over creek to elevated green with plenty of undulation. The course reversed its nines in 1997.

I was disappointed to read the reference to "the old lady...was hell to work with at the course". That "old lady" my fellow golfer is the owner of the course and the land surrounding the course. I play frequently at the course since it is minutes from my home. I enjoy the course weekly...sometimes more then once a week...since I am a busy physician and cannot necessary plan 7 days in advance for a T-time. Get over the nasty attitude about technology...I have played over 5 years at this course and Helen is always there...checking me in and doing the paperwork in about 3-5minutes. No it's not Pebble Beach. If you want to play Pebble Beach...take a flight..... The course is enjoyable and beautiful setting in the spring and fall.

Really needs work, Mar 07, 2009

If you go here in the early season, say May or June, it can be a really nice course. But as the summer wears on the lack of maintenance really shows. Crabgrass sprouts everywhere, including the greens, the fairways just get burned out, and forget about the bunkers. This is an under capitalized and poorly run business. But, it is never crowded and is good when you don't want to wait.

Not that bad, Oct 16, 2008
reviewer: Kyle from Olney, MD
After seeing the reviews about the condition of the course and hearing stories about the infamous owner I was a little hesitant about playing this course but I must say it really wasn't that bad. We encountered the owner in the clubhouse right away and she was very pleasant. We paid, she warned us to be careful heading to the 2nd hole because the layout is a bit tricky and you can end up at a different hole, and then we were on our way. The course itself was as previously described in some of the other reviews. Some bumpy/sandy greens, fairways with the same grass length as the roughs, empty water coolers, etc. But because I didn't have the highest expectations going in that stuff didn't bother me too too much. If they improved those things it could really be a decent course. It's scenic with some challenging holes and a nice long layout. I can't say anything bad about the owner as she was nothing but nice to us and we were out there for a decent amount of time. Maybe the days of her driving people away are over. It wasn't very crowded and the fee was very reasonable. I can see us playing there again.
