Trotters Glen Golf Course

This course, located only twelve miles from the DC district line, is known for its large, well-bunkered, undulating greens. The tree-lined fairways vary in width, and there are water hazards that come into play on six holes. The signature hole is #11, a 401-yard, par 4, requiring a 230-yard carry from the back tees over a pond to fairway that slopes right to left, then an approach over creek to elevated green with plenty of undulation. The course reversed its nines in 1997.

| The condition of the course is laughable. You better learn how to read the weeds on the greens. |

Inexcusably Bad, Jun 14, 2009 |

| The course was in complete disarray. Every tee box was inhabited with ant hills and the fairways were beyond over grown. Im not a golf expert by any means but I can appreciate a decent course and this was not one. |

| I was disappointed to read the reference to "the old lady...was hell to work with at the course". That "old lady" my fellow golfer is the owner of the course and the land surrounding the course. I play frequently at the course since it is minutes from my home. I enjoy the course weekly...sometimes more then once a week...since I am a busy physician and cannot necessary plan 7 days in advance for a T-time. Get over the nasty attitude about technology...I have played over 5 years at this course and Helen is always there...checking me in and doing the paperwork in about 3-5minutes. No it's not Pebble Beach. If you want to play Pebble Beach...take a flight..... The course is enjoyable and beautiful setting in the spring and fall. |

Really needs work, Mar 07, 2009 |

| If you go here in the early season, say May or June, it can be a really nice course. But as the summer wears on the lack of maintenance really shows. Crabgrass sprouts everywhere, including the greens, the fairways just get burned out, and forget about the bunkers. This is an under capitalized and poorly run business. But, it is never crowded and is good when you don't want to wait. |

Not that bad, Oct 16, 2008 |

| After seeing the reviews about the condition of the course and hearing stories about the infamous owner I was a little hesitant about playing this course but I must say it really wasn't that bad. We encountered the owner in the clubhouse right away and she was very pleasant. We paid, she warned us to be careful heading to the 2nd hole because the layout is a bit tricky and you can end up at a different hole, and then we were on our way. The course itself was as previously described in some of the other reviews. Some bumpy/sandy greens, fairways with the same grass length as the roughs, empty water coolers, etc. But because I didn't have the highest expectations going in that stuff didn't bother me too too much. If they improved those things it could really be a decent course. It's scenic with some challenging holes and a nice long layout. I can't say anything bad about the owner as she was nothing but nice to us and we were out there for a decent amount of time. Maybe the days of her driving people away are over. It wasn't very crowded and the fee was very reasonable. I can see us playing there again. |

| This golf course is somewhat of a challenge but honestly, it needs a lot of landscaping work. You would think after finally driving a ball off the tee 300+ yards going straight, you would be AT LEAST rewarded with a nice clean cut fairway with few divots and such, but that is simply not the case. After playing at this course, it's better to hit in the rough lol. Theres a little problem in the beginning when you first start at the course too..its called SLOW SERVICE. They need to update their systems. It takes like an hour to pay and get a cart..everything is hand written. Get with the program and join the 21st century for Godsake. Fair warning..take a snack, a drink and whatever else, because this place lacks all of the above as well. There is also a little old lady working there that is obsessed with carts and returning them. She also registers people to go out..which takes like 2 hrs. Good luck. Lets be honest..this isnt Pebble Beach and it is not very busy, and quite frankly, no one would steal their ancient piece of crap carts..so get over it. The idea of golf is to enhance love for the game and play at a steady but enjoyable pace. This lady made our golfing experience hell by calling our cell phone 7 times asking where are cart was 2 hours into an 18 hole game. Not fun and very annoying. I will return there, but next time I plan on leaving my phone locked in the car.. along with the old lady lol |

Ok for location and price, Apr 19, 2008 |

| This was my first time here and I did do my homework prior to going. I expected the little old lady to be what everyone said: MEAN I experienced quite the opposite, there were 4 people on business that were in the clubhouse before me and she was very helpful to them and gave them suggestions on the course. When it was my turn, she gave me the same courtesy that she gave them. Not too bad. The clubhouse leaves much to be desired, but with a little help, the place can be a great course for a quick 18. On to the course: The course was ok, the fairways had some crab grass and full of dandylions which actually made it hard to find my ball sometimes. It did pose some challenges, but I had plenty of time to relax and enjoy my round. Some of the greens were in bad shape with holes covered with sand, but it did not impact my game at all. Of course with many of the golf courses in the area, and this one included, the Canadian Geese seem to overrun the course, The groundskeepers were out there chasing the geese out of the fairway. I would definately play there again, but I think there are many things that can be done to improve the course. |
