This is a tree-lined course, but the fairways do afford generous landing areas. The greens are large in size and fast. The terrain is predominantly flat, but some holes are heavily undulating, so you can expect some uneven lies. Orrin Smith (1925), Floyd Farley (1957) and Bill Love (1985) have done redesigns on this course.

Best Course in KC, Jun 29, 2004

With long narrow tree lined fairways, Milburn is a true test of golf. From the back tees, players are forced to hit their Drivers on nearly every hole. Many in-city clubs in KC allow golfers to bunt 2-irons off every tee to lay up so they have wedges in, but Milburn forces golfers to hit driver and a mid to long iron into each green. The course does allow you to recover from errant shots by making nice up and ins. The greens are large and undulating and if you have a single digit handicap here you will travel well to other clubs in the area. Milburn has put in new cart paths and they have a lot of work in the plans to improve the club.

this is a classic style golf course that is demanding from tee to green it is in excellent shape and has zoysia fairways not bermuda hosts us open section bi-anually

Fox Creek Golf Club
"A Best Buy in StLouis Metropolitan Area"
I will start by saying that while I am only 24 years old, I have been an avid golfer since age 7. I haven't played a huge number of courses in my lifetime, but I know a good course when I play one, and I know a bad course as well. I personally feel that this course plays better than the more well known Sunset Hills CC also in Edwardsville, while not requiring membership/friendship to play. I've played the Bay Point Lagoon Legend in Panama City (known to be one of the 5 toughest courses in the US), and I truly don't think it has much on Fox Creek difficulty wise. The trees alone on Fox Creek truly play havok with any shots that aren't riding the middle of the fairways. Several greens have large trees that block approach shots that aren't setup off the tee correctly. A smart player will leave his driver in the bad on most tees (unless you are confident in your big stick), however, due to the course's length, approach shots end up being taken with mid-to-long irons more than one would like. Couple this with water or OB on nearly every hole and multi-tiered undulating greens and you are looking at one tough course. The best part about this course is the low price. You can play for dirt cheap in my opinion for as fine a course as this one. The only knock in my book is that the course does not wear well through the year, either due to climate or an average greens-crew. So if you want to play a great course for a bottom dollar price, come early in the year (April-May). I promise you won't be disappointed.

Madera Golf & Country Club

This is a great layout with some long par 3's. The fairways are wide but trees line many holes and you must be in position in the fairway to get a shot at the small greens. Speed of the greens is medium-fast. Greens and Tee boxes were in good shape but the bermuda fairways are dormant and not overseeded for the winter. Play is slower on Sunday's but everyone was friendly and helpful.

"Best Kept Secret In Texas"

He is considered one of the best minimalist designers working today. The members of this course are hiding a real gem in Southeast Texas.

"Good ol' boys golf..."
This is actually a pretty fun 9 hole course. Fairways are a bit thick most of the time...you can loose a ball off the tee box. Greens are usually pretty nice. Inexpensive. Very seldom is there a wait. Very low key kind of golf course. That can be pretty nice at times.
