The design of this course is split in half. One half is styled after a Scottish links course and the other half is more traditional, featuring narrow, tree-lined fairways and small greens. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 8th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996. The fairways were built on hilly terrain, so you can expect some uneven lies. Water hazards (six lakes and a few ponds) come into play on eleven holes.

Large fairways, Apr 20, 2006

The course is in very good shape, with large fairways and greens. The sand traps seem to be in a transition period from heavy wet sand to a more powdery white sand.

Sandpiper Golf & Country Club
"A nice short course"
I have played this golf course for the last 10 years, 2 to 5 times each year at various time, usually in the winter. Sandpiper is a short course with plenty of par 3's and short par 4's. The layout makes for a slow round on the front side on a busy day. It usually opens up on the back, which is the better 9 holes. Greens are in good condition year round. Course gets more play in the winter when the ajoining retirement community is fully occupied. Long hitters have no advantage as any long drive (250 or more) puts you too close to the greens. Use irons and 4 woods off most of the tees. Any drive 200 yards down the middle is great for this course. Some holes feel too close to the homes. Can be a real challenge when windy.

Witch Golf Links, The
"Challenging and well maintained"
The Witch Golf Course near Myrtle Beach is a challenging and scenic course. Unlike other courses nearby that were built in clear cut areas, the Witch is in part forest and part swamp. One hole in particular is memorable, you drive onto an island fairway, then you use a medium iron to an island green, with swamp in all directions. Wild game is seen throughout the course area. If I lived in the Myrtle Beach area, I would obtain a membership at the Witch.

Cabin Brook Golf Course
"Canbin Brook is a fair golf course"
I have playd Cabin Brook many times growing up in the central Kentucky region. The fairways are wide enough for most beginners and the terrain only comes into play on a couple of holes. With the rolling hills, it is a good place to learn how to adjust your shots in your stance. The price, sometimes, can be a bit much but, it is worth it for the casual duffer.
