This course's front nine is very hilly and has fast, undulating greens. The back nine is fairly flat, but has its challenges. There is water that comes into play on four holes on the back nine. Also, the fairways are narrow and tree lined. The Paintsville Tournament is held here every year in the second week of June.

Hard to hole !, Feb 23, 2012

This old course just seems to require alot of both the long & Short game with hard to read greens. The tee shots to #10 & #17 must fly the Big Sandy River and that requires you to walk or ride cart cross the swinging bridge. If you can shape your shots the front 9 will be a challenge for you. I learned to play on this course and it still gives me fits at times with greens that can spoil the best golfers day. A visit to play this course will be worth the trip and it's tournament draws some greats each year.

Valencia Country Club
"Valencia CC -- one of the finest in the U.S."
Valencia CC is a gorgeous layout and wonderful design that only gets better with maturity. This Robert Trent Jones course is a truly great test of golf. Demanding par fives and threes along with several of the finest par fours I've ever played make for a challenging and wonderful round. The 66,000 sq. ft. clubhouse with wonderful restaurant, grill room, snack bar, and great pro shop make this one of the most beautiful settings there is to play a round of golf. The practice facilities are absolutely great. This is one of the top 100 golf courses in the United States.

Triggs Memorial Golf Course
"Donald Ross Design at Public Rates"
Triggs is a good course, a tough layout from the back tees. Donald Ross designed Muni gets a lot of play and is a little rough around the edges, but a great test of golf. Played there for years before I relocated South.

Witch Golf Links, The
"Challenging and well maintained"
The Witch Golf Course near Myrtle Beach is a challenging and scenic course. Unlike other courses nearby that were built in clear cut areas, the Witch is in part forest and part swamp. One hole in particular is memorable, you drive onto an island fairway, then you use a medium iron to an island green, with swamp in all directions. Wild game is seen throughout the course area. If I lived in the Myrtle Beach area, I would obtain a membership at the Witch.

Eddy Farm Hotel & Resort - Par 3 Course
"gone but not forgotten"
The par 3 course is gone, totally gone. The main course: nice course; open fairways; no real water to worry about. Can help your golfing morale. BUT . . . now only open to guests, AND renamed The Eddy Farm Retreat and Conference Center (the name says it all).
