This demanding course plays long from the back tees. The large greens vary in undulation and feature an assortment of greenside bunkers. Because the wind is frequently a factor while playing here, the par 3's are particularly difficult. The signature hole is #14, a 229-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot to a green that is sloped from right to left. This course was redesigned in 1980 by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., and Gary Roger Baird. Tee times for Saturday and Sunday can be made on Tuesday, other days are seven days in advance.

Pretty Good course for beginners, Apr 22, 2004

I play this course at least once every month. It's a decent course for golfers with handicap 20 and up. The fairways are wide and holes are not that long so it is very forgiving and make bad golfers feel good. I don't think it is easy by any means because the wind can play a big role in almost every shot. You really have to choose the right club: you could be hitting a pw or a 5 iron for 150 yards depending on the direction of the wind. I have to say that the fairways are in great condition. it's one of the courses where you get a nice divot (makes you feel good). There aren't too many bunkers. There isn't any real water trouble like in Shoreline. There are some dog leg holes which are pretty interesting. Bottom line: If you don't like the wind, don't play twilight since the wind picks up in the afternoon.

the course is pretty straight-forward and non-descipt. longer than most munis from the tips with ok green maintainence. can get pretty windy since it is wide open to the bay. commuter planes can be a nuisance. just not very exciting.

Cameron Hills Golf Links
"One of the Best I've played"
I had a wonderful time playing Cameron Hills last season. I found this shorter course was both enjoyable and challenging. This is my first year swinging a club and I have visited several courses. I felt this course allowed me to play a challenging round while improving my skills without the frustration of the harder courses. Even though Cameron Hills is an hour away from home, I plan on making a couple of trips to the links this year. I played the course right after Hurricane Isabel played through and the only problem I had with the course was the debris from the hurricane. I don't hold that against Cameron Hills, they made a good attempt at working around the fallen trees. Thanks for a great time, I'm looking forward to visiting again.

"Classic Donald Ross"
This course is short in yardage (6200), but plays much longer. One reason is that there are only 2 par 5's on a par 70 track. The par 3's are classic Ross. 3 of the 4 can play over 190 yards to postage stamp greens. There are a lot of down and up style par 4's, but there is also variety. Holes 10,11 and 18 are good examples of tough, well thought out par 4's that demand accuracy and thought. A four is an excellent score on all of these holes. The course is generally in excellent condition and has undergone some minor renovations. You will notice that the greens are exceptionally small, even for a Ross course. Greens are properly protected with bunkers and have just the right amount of undulation. One designer has stated that these are the smallest greens he has ever seen on a Ross course (which may be its claim of distinction among the many Ross courses). There is a premium on iron play and short game. Greens are quick, but not penal. Everyone thinks they can bring this course to its knees, but it usually is the other way around. The course can frustrate you if you expect too much too easily. This is what makes it such a wonderful place to experience the brilliance of Donald Ross. "Great for all ages"
Aside from this course being played regularly by Chandler Harper (PGA hall of famer), City Park has a great youth program practically year round. Also, the course is always in great shape and, although, it is a very short 9-hole course, it is very challenging.
