This course was built on semi-flat terrain, so it is easy to walk. Even though the fairways are lined by trees, they still afford generous landing areas. The small greens are flat and putt true. Some of the greens also have sand bunkers around them. Water hazards (a pond and a creek) come into play on a few holes. There are additional sets of tees that can be used when playing an eighteen hole round.

"Classic Donald Ross"
This course is short in yardage (6200), but plays much longer. One reason is that there are only 2 par 5's on a par 70 track. The par 3's are classic Ross. 3 of the 4 can play over 190 yards to postage stamp greens. There are a lot of down and up style par 4's, but there is also variety. Holes 10,11 and 18 are good examples of tough, well thought out par 4's that demand accuracy and thought. A four is an excellent score on all of these holes. The course is generally in excellent condition and has undergone some minor renovations. You will notice that the greens are exceptionally small, even for a Ross course. Greens are properly protected with bunkers and have just the right amount of undulation. One designer has stated that these are the smallest greens he has ever seen on a Ross course (which may be its claim of distinction among the many Ross courses). There is a premium on iron play and short game. Greens are quick, but not penal. Everyone thinks they can bring this course to its knees, but it usually is the other way around. "Good Starter Course"
For an inexpensive, well maintained course to play while you are learning the basics of golf, this course is the one to play on. No par 5's. The course has good water, and easy par 3's that are helpful when you feel the pressure of the group behind you when your beginning. For the price, the location in Fountain Valley's Mile Square Park is beautiful, and I've never felt that a person starting off in the sport would feel embarrassed to make a mistake at this course.

"Great little par 3 course"
This is a fantastic par 3 course for the money. The top nine is all par 3 with a great chance to work on the irons and putts. Water is present but not a threat for a straight drive. The bottom starts with an awesome par 4 that tees off from the hill behind the clubhouse. Reachable with a driver and accuracy. More water on the bottom nine that could cause some lost balls if you are not on your game. Greens are more than fair. Not to fast but depending on weather can be faster than they look. No sand around the holes and hopefully that will change in the future. I use this course frequently for training as well as a quick round of golf without the hassel of a larger course. The driving range is very well kept and the price for a bucket is the cheapest in town that I know of. The practice green is fantastic and allows for many different approaches to a hole to be practiced. The pro shop stocks many items including a complete PING fitting area. Refeshments, including soft drinks, food, and beer are avaialable at a cost designed to leave you money to come back and play another day. This course is a proud sponser of youth golf as well as senior golf. Very family oriented.

I have played it several times, and depending on the winds it can certainly challange you. It is fair and rewards the good shots.
