This is a very mature course with trees that are very large. There are more hills and valleys on the back nine, making the greens more undulating than on the front nine.

National at Parkville, Oct 17, 2004
reviewer: Bill Duty from KCMO
Beautiful course, challenged by natural terrain (creeks, woods, changes in elevation) and use of fairway traps, bunkers and slopes. Made me use most of my clubs and techniques. Adequate driving range and putting green. Course not crowded. Amenities (clubhouse, food, service) superb.

most beautiful course in Kansas City, May 03, 2004
reviewer: Joe Prenger from Kansas City, Mo USA
This course's layout is very difficult for beginners, and favors the straight hitter. the fairways and greens are a thing of beauty, but you do not want to be stuck in the rough or you will have trouble getting it out because of how thick it is and how all the rough lies on hills or slopes. the sourrounding area of the National has gorgous $1 million and up homes that a re miraculous to look at while you are playing. the Ninth hole is the premeire hole on the course with it being elevated above the fairway up to 200 feet and to the right of the tees being the lake. this course is not for the beginner.
