This course is located near the border of Maine and New Hampshire and offers many spectacular views. Water hazards (three lakes and three creeks) come into play on seven holes. The greens are fast and undulating, and the fairways are narrow with small landing areas. Geoffrey Cornish and Brian Silva designed the back nine, which was added in 1986. The signature hole is #17, a 369-yard, par 4, which doglegs to the left and has a very long green completely covered with sand bunkers in the back. There is also a beautiful lake that comes in to play on hole #17.

Great Course! Great Value!, Aug 29, 2005

Awesome course..I've played the course several times this year and it continues to get better and better. Each hole offers something different, you'll use every club in your bag. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are always in perfect condition. The staff are extremely nice and very helpful. They also have a grass range, putting green and sand trap practice area. Only two hours from Boston and definitely worth the trip.

"Peaceful Day of Golf"

"Good Starter Course"
For an inexpensive, well maintained course to play while you are learning the basics of golf, this course is the one to play on. No par 5's. The course has good water, and easy par 3's that are helpful when you feel the pressure of the group behind you when your beginning. For the price, the location in Fountain Valley's Mile Square Park is beautiful, and I've never felt that a person starting off in the sport would feel embarrassed to make a mistake at this course.

I will start by saying that while I am only 24 years old, I have been an avid golfer since age 7. I haven't played a huge number of courses in my lifetime, but I know a good course when I play one, and I know a bad course as well. I personally feel that this course plays better than the more well known Sunset Hills CC also in Edwardsville, while not requiring membership/friendship to play. I've played the Bay Point Lagoon Legend in Panama City (known to be one of the 5 toughest courses in the US), and I truly don't think it has much on Fox Creek difficulty wise. The trees alone on Fox Creek truly play havok with any shots that aren't riding the middle of the fairways. Several greens have large trees that block approach shots that aren't setup off the tee correctly. A smart player will leave his driver in the bad on most tees (unless you are confident in your big stick), however, due to the course's length, approach shots end up being taken with mid-to-long irons more than one would like. Couple this with water or OB on nearly every hole and multi-tiered undulating greens and you are looking at one tough course. The best part about this course is the low price. You can play for dirt cheap in my opinion for as fine a course as this one. The only knock in my book is that the course does not wear well through the year, either due to climate or an average greens-crew. So if you want to play a great course for a bottom dollar price, come early in the year (April-May). I promise you won't be disappointed.
