This club has three nine hole courses that can be played in three eighteen hole combinations. Each course was built on rolling terrain, so you can expect many uneven lies. The greens are elevated, and five ponds come into play on many holes. Nine hole play is only allowed during the weekdays. Ed Ault (1963), Frank Duane (1970) and Stephen Kay (1991) have done redesigns on this course.

This is a great golf course I agree, its funny how Russ Harris calls himself a golfer, thats like saying my fastball is like Joba Chamberlain, the only reason he goes golfing is to look at other men change in the locker room.

IT HAS BEEN 13 YEARS SINCE I PLAYED AT BLUE HILLS AND I FOUND THE CHANGES IN THE COURSE SET UP AND THE CONDITIONS SIMPLY GREAT. THE STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND COURTEOUS. MY FAVORITE WAY TO PLAY IS TO GO TO A NEW COURSE AS A SINGLE AND SOAK UP ALL THE NEW EXPIERENCES FROM THE CLUBHOUSE TO THE 3 NEW PLAYERS I MEET AT THE 1ST TEE. AT BLUE HILLS I FELT LIKE A MEMBER AT AN EXCLUSIVE COUNTRY CLUB. THE FAIRWAYS AND GREENS WERE IN FABULOUS CONDITION. I HATE "TRICKED UP " GOLF COURSES AND I FOUND THIS LAYOUT RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU. IT DEMANDS ACCURACY, LIKE ANY GOOD COURSE,AND SHOT MAKING ABILITY. I WAS HAPPY WITH MY 3 BIRDIES, WELL SATIFIED WITH ANY PARS, AND DESERVING OF MY BOGIES. MOST OF MY GOLF IS PLAYED IN ARIZONA THESE DAYS AND I FOUND BLUE HILLS A GREAT CHANGE OF PACE. ONE THING IS THAT THE BUNKERS COULD USE A BIT MORE SAND SO FOR YOUR OWN GOOD STAY OUT OF THEM. ENJOY IT ALL.

Blue Hill is my town course and I can play it for a reasonable rate. Non residents, like a lot of metropolitan courses, get screwed pretty much. That aside, the course is always in great shape. The fairways are in terrific shape and the greens, too. To my mind the Lakeside and the Woodlands are the better nines. The Pines has a couple good holes but is generally boring, basically straight up and down, with little intrigue to most holes. Another thing I don't care for is that Pines particularly and Lakeside somewhat, are shooting galleries--and you're the target. The fairways on many holes run alongside each other so a lot of shots come sailing over. You, of course, can do the same to others. It can be dangerous. Balls are generally easy to find, unless they drop into water. The courses are hilly in parts, but overall walking is not bad for those who prefer it. Rounds are occassionly slow, but generally it moves all right. Older folks seem to like the course, it's not a severe test of golf and several holes are not long. As a 14 handicap, I enjoy myself there, as long as I don't play it too often. You've got some challenging holes and the excellent condition of the courses is a real plus, no matter what time of year.
