This course's fairways range between narrow and wide open. The terrain is relatively flat and well bunkered. The greens are typically very fast and have plenty of undulation. There are lakes strategically placed throughout the course which will be the watery grave of any errant shot. The wind is usually a major factor, so making the proper club selection becomes a paramount part of the game.

What an improvement, Jun 27, 2010

This country club has been completely changed since last time I visited. Service and food was fantastic. The golf course was in excellent shape and the greens were the best bermudagrass greens I have ever played on. There have been some major changes in staff and it has made a huge difference. This club is on the rise. Wow what a golf course.

Pines Municipal Golf Course, The
"Tough for it's size"
I'm origianally from Toccoa and have played this golf course many many times. While only a 9 hole course, it is worth the money to play it. It is far less expensive than most golf corses and offers real challenges for even experienced golfers. The terrain is extremely hilly and almost every hole has an extreme change in elavation. The green's are extremely small and very very fast. During the summer the fairways and greens are fairly well manicured although winter play tends to be a little harder on some holes due to a harder fairways from less moisture. Fairways are extemely tight with hundreds of opportunities to lose balls in pine forests and a courseside lake on the last two holes. Overall, not an allstar course but for a quick, challenging, and inexpensive round well worth the time.

River Plantation Country Club - Augusta/Biloxi Course
"Challenging Layout"
Fun, challenging layout with recently reworked tees and greens. Course conditions a little spotty and a "mud-fest" if there's even a chance of rain. $25 weekday green fee is fair but $50 on weekends is a little out of line with other area courses. Some good money games on most days.

"Real Golf"
This is a true golf course. Accuracy and distance is at a premium. There are no easy holes and you cant "run it up" to any of the greens. It is also a fair course. The greens neef to be a little faster and the traps need more sand but the layout is as good as anywhere in town...public or private.

Country Club of Louisiana, The
"Best Course in the State"
This club is on an amazing tract, and offers great variety. The course struggled for a couple of years, but the greenskeeper was replaced last year, and it is in stellar shape now. Only one downside... you need to know a member, or you can't even get through the gate.
