This facility, which was named to "GOLF Magazine's" 1998 list of "Gold Medal Resorts," features a Scottish links-style course. The course is located alongside the ocean, and has many great views of the coastline. This course was officially certified as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, the first in the state and only one of twenty-one nationwide to receive such an honor. The co-designers are Tom Watson and Sandy Tatum in connection with Robert Trent Jones, Jr. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 4th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996, and "GOLF Magazine" rated Spanish Bay 45th best under the 1998 category of "Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S." "Golf Digest" also rated it as the 12th "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and 10th best for 1997-98.
