Great Course - But Slow Play, Jul 30, 2008

| For the price you pay you cannot beat this course ($29 to ride). I have played courses twice the cost that were in far worse condition. This is a great layout with near perfect fairways and greens (played July 2008). The only thing is that they allow people to walk anytime which really slows play. We waited at least 10 minutes on the first 5 holes than it cleared up a bit but it was slow all day. Expect 5+ hours to play 18. |

| The course is a beautiful state-run course and has been recently renovated. Our experience was not as good as we expected. My brother-in-law and I took only one set of clubs. We purchased two 9-hole rounds of golf (we had to twist the pro shop staff's collective arm to get them to let us pay for even nine holes) and the use of a cart. Got to the course and were allowed to use the cart. Went to the first tee and spoke to the course marshal all the way to the hole. Each member of the group playing in front of us each took TWO shots from the first tee. We each took ONE tee shot and proceeded to take our next shot. We were abruptly stopped by the coure marshal stating that the rules were that each player had to have a separate set of clubs. It is rather curious how we were allowed access to the cart with only one set of clubs and even spoke to the course marshal while getting our cart. He didn't say anything about the "rule violation" then, but apparently someone in the group behind us tipped him off. Not to mention that the group in front of us were allowed to each take a second tee shot in full view of the marshal. Got to play only one shot on the first hole, so our experience was kind of limited. We were allowed to get a full refund, which was as it should have been. I just wish that the rules had been completely detailed at the time of purchase and that the staff (especially at the pro-shop) had been a little more attentive and less discouraging. |
