Charming and a Great Value, Aug 04, 2004

I travel a great distance to this charming course one or two times a year. It's very nice, well maintained, and an interesting layout. Because it is a good distance from the big cities, it's typically not crowded. We teed off at 9:30 in the AM on a Monday last year with only 5 other cars in the parking lot. Nobody in front of us and nobody behind us. Of the 20 or so courses I play a year, it is one of my favorites. The course is listed as private, but there policy is to allow non-members to play any day. The greens fees are incredibly cheap-about $18 weekdays. It is truly the best value in the Rochester area. Lunch in the restaurant is especially charming. The clubhouse is akin to an old Southern plantation mansion setting on the waters edge. Not ostentatious and not brand, shiny new--simply charming and makes you feel like you are being taken back to a more peaceful, quieter time.

Very scenic on Silver Lake. Challenging course with watered fairways. Great greens. Very well kept. Good food and a fully stocked pro shop with all the latest in equipment and apparel. We loved the atomosphere and beauty of the lake sitting next to the golf course.
