This club has an outstanding regulation eighteen hole course and a challenging nine hole regulation course. In 1994, the "Dallas Morning News" rated the Blackjack Course (the eighteen hole layout) first in the State of Texas for playability. Both courses are challenging because they have narrow fairways and fast greens. Water hazards in the form of lakes and creeks flow throughout both courses and come into play several times.

Excellent North Texas Golf, Aug 26, 2004

I played the Blackjack course today for the first time and found it to be one of the best courses I have ever played. The greens were fast and well manicured. The fairway were in great shape and quiet challenging. I have played several courses in the North Dallas, Carrollton, Garland and Plano area in the last two months and this course was a wonderful experience. I will be going back next week. My golf partner also agreed that this was the best we have played in our area.

Highlands Country Club
"Great Mountain Course"
Although you must golf with a member, Highlands offers a wide variety of challenges. Varying lies, fast greens, and narrow fairways makes Highlands a highly likeable course. A recent resodding of the fairways to Kentucky bluegrass has made this already aesthetic course even more beautiful.

"Glorified Cow Pasture"
This is where I learned to play 18 holes. That being said, here's pros and cons: PROs: carts in decent shape, decent greens, challenging hilly course w/water obstacles, pro shop has wood stove and good hot dogs! Affordable alternative to other local courses CONS: no sand to be found on the property (could be a pro...), no driving or chipping area, cart paths mimick Cabarrus county backroads(disrepair),pro shop reminds me of a musty old general store but less merchandise, lots of backyards in which to hit your drives...
