This course offers tree-lined fairways and difficult to read greens loaded with subtle contours. The overall condition and degree of difficulty has been compared to many of the private courses in the local area. The ladies' par is actually 75.

Bad short game/putting = high score!, Apr 18, 2009 |

| Just played this course for the first time. I would agree with the other reviewer about the necessity of keeping your ball below the pin on the greens. If you get your ball above the pin, your chance of doing better than a three putt will not be good. I mostly stayed below the pin on the front 9, and didn't have one hole that I putted more than twice. Overall, it seems like there are only a few holes that the greens are not difficult/excessively sloped. Expect that you will need to bring your best putting skills on this course to score well. Though it's early in the season, the course does not seem to hold water well after rainfall or early in the season. There was a decent amount of water or wet grass throughout. I played Kensington a day earlier, which was much drier. It may be advisable to avoid this course after a steady rainfall due to terrain. Other than that, weekday spring rates of $25 for 18 with cart I thought were very reasonable. Overall, the course layout is not excessively long or hard, but effective short game/putting is a must if you are going to do well. I feel Hilltop is a good value in a good location, just a few miles off the expressway. I would play this course again. As the weather gets warmer, the course conditions will no doubt improve. I would also suspect that the greens will be even more difficult (fast) as they dry out. |

Up to the task?, May 12, 2004 |

| This course plays short for the long, STRAIGHT hitter. Like Westland, watch your head on some holes. Hazards and out of bounds are in play on every hole. Greens are fun to putt, some of the hardest to read in the metro area. Shot making is a must on this course, if you do this, you should score well. Keep the ball below the hole, if you don't, forget making the downhill putts. On this course, you could put up a red number if the wind isn't to bad. Oh yeah, wind plays a factor, for sure, at Hilltop. Like I said, are you up for the task? |

TOUGH GREENS, Jan 23, 2004 |
| reviewer: Joel Copeland

| I live in the neighborhood so, I've played it many times. Very nice course. Be in shape if you're gonna walk it, though, it isn't called Hilltop for nuthin! Competitive rates, great conditon. These greens are TUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUFF. They're fun though, as is the whole course. Lotta trees lining the fairways, so you gotta keep it straight. Not a lot of water comes into play, just a few holes. |
