This short course has extremely narrow fairways. Water hazards comes into play on a few holes. Many mature oak trees are scattered throughout the entire course. The signature hole is #3, a 242-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot to a green with a lake guarding its left side. The 5,475-yard men's tee also has a ladies' course rating of 71.0 and a slope of 126.

Challenging place to play, Sep 13, 2005

Very tough course if you lack course management in your game. Many greens are small and many short holes where accuacy can be a 4 shot swing. Extremly well maintained and a very kind staff. Could have one of the best clubhouse views of any course in the midwest. A complete joy and cant wait to return.

Portage Country Club is one of the better kept golf courses in the area. The course has a good mixture of links style holes as well as narrow holes enclosed by wooded areas. If you plan on playing after a rain shower be prepared to get wet, due to Swan lake and the marsh surrounding the course.

Rainier Golf & Country Club
"One of the best In Seattle area"
Rainier Golf has everything for the family. Nice greens, beautiful fairways, ponds, and a great crew that takes care of it. It has an older clubhouse with French stying. Ron Proctor the last Superintendent, drove the course into a new direction by rebuiding all of the fairways, adding six to twelve inches of sand, drainage, and training the best crew to care for it. He kept up on new mowers, bringing high quality, cutting edge practices into the day to day maint. of the course. Rainier golf is worth the money. All done through two generations of golf Superintendent know how. Rainier is a links style layout, and challenging for everyone.

Glen Oak Country Club
"Bring your control game"
Accuracy off the tee is more important than length as the fairways are lined with colorful trees. The small greens are surrounded by well-placed bunkers and then the real fun begins. The greens are fast, unless you have a downhill putt and then they are super-fast. Since the greens are so true, there are plenty of opportunities for one-putts, but also three-putts due to speed and breaks. Relaxed social atmosphere of club makes for a fun day. Pros, lead by Danny Mulhearn, are terrific golfers and teachers.
