Willow Wood Country Club12227 Sandborn Rd Portland, MI 48875 Phone: (517)647-1984Fax: (517)647-1984
This eighteen hole course has gradual undulation, mounding and gentle sloping throughout the layout. The fairways are open, however, they are fairly tight. This also applies to the landing areas. The greens are average to large in size with mild undulation. This is a course that plays to all skill levels.

Lovely to see and Play AND has a driving range!!!, Apr 18, 2004

| The other Portland course lacks a driving range, but WW's one is huge. Fairways are wide and you can drive your heart out; greens are large and a joy to play. Website at www.willowwoodcountryclub.com gives lots of info and the new clubhouse is mammoth with terrific food and drink. I play often here anytime I'm in town and I live in CA where we have billions of fine courses. This one equals many of our nicest city California courses, most of which lack a posh clubhouse, ample dining facility with great food, and trained, friendly staff, both in the clubhouse and on the grounds. You'd think that they groomed this course with a scissors it is so well kept. An easy drive from Lansing, it's a quality, big city course for a small town price just outside of Portland. I recommend this course to anyone who wants to be pleasantly surprised to find a course for ALL ranges of golfing skill. They also have excellent facilities for banquets, coporate picnics and tourneys, weddings, receptions, small birthday or anniversary parties, or elegant evening soirees. I am so happy that I discovered Willow Wood. Try this gem as often as you can!!!! |

Best Course No One Knows About, Mar 29, 2004

| If this course was in Lansing it would be talked about with the best of them. For a course like this to be in Portland is unbielivable. Word of mouth latley has brought in more play. Most affordable non-municipal course within 30 minutes of Lansing. For low scratch golfers, course must be played from the back tees. Very short from foward tees but still can jump up and bite you. I shot a 69 from the backs last year and also had a 83 from the forwards so depending on how you are playing it can range in score. Pro and staff at course are excellent. Best 4-man scramble in town (June Time).Course is kept in tip top shape. Used to have a dirt parking lot and trailer club house now it challenges any club house Mid-Michigan. Great pro-shop ranges from Pro V-x to Top Flight.KEEP DRIVING.You drive and drive and do not think a course this nice can be where its at and then BAM you have Williow Wood!!! Trust me go there and you will know what I am talking about.
