This course has fairways that are fairly tight and narrow. It is a traditional course with small, fast greens. Water comes into play on four holes. Hole #13 is a 92-yard, par 3, requiring a shot over a large lake. You can night golf during the month of October.

Traditional Course Layout with Mature Flora, May 13, 2004

This is a great matchplay course. Each hole has its own character. The 2nd and 18th are drivable par 4s for the big hitters. Both par 5s are reachable in 2. There is one hole, the 13th which is an afterthought. About 90 yards and when the green is cut you can spin the ball off the green. The 14th hole is one of the best holes I have seen. You have to hit a long cut to be in good position - that is very hard to do for most good golfers. A good course if you ever get the chance to play it.

TimberStone Golf Course
"Worth the trip"
This course is easily the best course I have played. It's on a par with Blackwolf Run and the other Kohler courses at a fraction of the price. This course has a spectacular setting. It winds up and around Iron Mountain, and is a marvel of course design. Despite the elevation changes, only one hole plays uphill. The holes are cut out of the mountain side and winding cart paths take you to the next level, and hole, until you reach numbers 9 and 17, both of which play straight downhill (as does 18, a 600 yard par five with 3 terraced fairways). The grooming is immaculate and each hole is separated from the others by woods or water. Even on a busy day it feels like you're the only golfers on the course. The staff is friendly and efficient and the course is nicely rangered. As you play the course, you will marvel both at the quality of the experience and the incredible engineering required during construction. Rates have been in the $50-60 range for the past several years and its the best golf bargain you can find. This is a course you could play every day and it would remain interesting. The fairways and greens compare with any PGA site. This is one not to miss.

Knob Hill Golf Course
"One of the better ones around"
Nicely maintained, well conditioned course. A little short from the whites, and perhaps a little long from the championship tees for the average golfer. Water comes into play on many holes, as does out of bounds. Greens are medium sized and fairly flat, but several have devilish breaks. Holes seven and eight can make or break your round, and when playing into the wind, the eighteenth is as tough a finishing hole as there is in the area. There has been talk about going private for several years, but it appears as if it will happen sometime in 2004, so if you have the opportunity to play, do it soon!!

"Great Course"
