Good contrast, Sep 22, 2006

The Powell golf course has developed quite well over the last several years and is starting to mature well. There is a contrast of developed large mature tree lines tight fairways and large open fairways with changes in elevation. Water, sand and sagebrush all play hazards. A change in playing scenes makes this one of the best 18 hole courses to play in northern Wyoming.

I grew up in Powell, and can tell you first hand that this course is tough. Tight narrow fairways on the back nine, with lots and lots of trees. A type of desert course on the the front, open, but hazards will get you. I have seen this course mature over the years, it is a nice golf course, one I would recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy a nice round of golf.

Bent Creek Country Club
"Exquisite Conditioning"
I was a member at Bent Creek for ten years until moving to South Carolina. Day in and day out, compared with top caliber courses, this is probably the best conditioned course in the Mid-Atlantic area. Tees, fairways, and greens are bent grass, as are the practice tees and even one of the two practice ranges. The course is more difficult than its slope and course rating indicate, with very difficult holes at the start, especially from the back tees. It is a great course for average players from the regular men's tees, and a fantastic test for better players from the back. An under-par score from the back tees is exceptional.

Canadian Golf Club
"Nice course for small town."
The Canadian Golf course is both challenging and scenic. I was surprised to find such a course in the middle of the Texas panhandle. Thank you for your hard work to make the course great.

"It is what it is."
This is a no-nonsense par 3 course. Course is flat and wide open. Excellent place to get in a practice round or take kids or beginning golfers to. Low handicappers will not find this course challenging with the exception of a few water hazards. Fees are $15 monday through thursday.

Emporia Municipal Golf Course

Adequate golf course with driving range. This course is usually crowded. The pro shop/snack shop is small. As are the buckets of balls you get. Fees are high for small town course. Rough and fairway grass look pretty much the same during the summer.
