This course has relatively short yardage and is located at a high elevation, which makes it ideal for the mid-handicapper. The greens are stiff and play extremely true, with only slight undulation. The fairways are narrow and the first cut of rough is very playable, but the second cut is quite deep so driving accuracy is integral to scoring well. The course boasts breathtaking views of the San Francisco Peaks and Thumb Butte Mountain. The signature hole is #16, a 168-yard, par 3, which was literally carved out of a mountainside. As you stand on the elevated tee, the view of the green that is surrounded by trees, as well as the sand bunkers and boulders, is awesome, yet daunting. This beautiful course has hosted the U.S. Senior Amateur qualifier for the Northern Arizona Region.

Don't let the yardage fool you..., Oct 04, 2004

We played this mountain beauty for the first time Saturday the 2nd of October and were awed by the course's beauty and ingenious design. While the card numbers make it look like a short course, there are many holes requiring a solid carry from the back tees and overall this course is a tremendous challenge. A very, very satisfying golf experience! For any handicap this course is a rare treat to play.

VERY NICE COURSE FOR THE $$.THE GREENS ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION.SOME FAIRWAYS ARE TIGHT AND TREE LINED.THE COURSE IS MORE DIFFICULT THAN THE RATING OF 113(MORE LIKE A 125 TO 127 FROM THE BACK TEES).IT CAN USE A FEW MORE SAND TRAPS,BUT THERE ARE ENOUGH TREES AND WATER TO KEEP YOU HONEST.

"New golfer playing late afternoon"
Have played over 15 times in last two months. Newer player and have had a great time playing. The staff is the best.......... I play after 3:00 pm Jan-Mar. Iron only driving range and good putting green. I have been able to build up for my handycap.
