This is a very private club where guests must be accompanied by a member in order to play the course. The course was built on undulating terrain, so expect some uneven lies. The tree-lined fairways are somewhat narrow, and the fairly level greens are always well maintained. The ladies have some long par 4's and 5's to manage. One of the most difficult holes is #14, a 448-yard, par 4, which requires two extremely long shots just to reach its small green in regulation. "Golf Digest" rated this as the 20th "Best in State" course for the years 1995 through 1998. The other tee shown is an additional men's tee.

A true jewel, Jul 07, 2006
reviewer: Lawrence from Montreal, QC Canada
I had the pleasure to be invited by a member to play with him on Thursday, July 6th. I knew I was in for a “treat” when the long and winding road from the street to the club-house was tree-line with well aged growth and the pastoral view through the trees started calming me before I even had a club in my hands! We were greeted by two smiling and cheerful valets who took our clubs and brought them down to the pro-shop. The locker rooms and their “Old-World” look made me fell like I was walking into Independence Hall in Philadelphia! The Assistant to the Pro advised us that it had rained so heavily in the morning that no carts were allowed on the course at all and we had to walk with out bags; without hand carts! Needless to say this afforded me the opportunity to get a much, much better appreciation of the course than if just hitting and driving in a cart. Since we started our round at 6:00pm, we knew we were not going to play a complete round. We actually got 14 holes in before the light made it difficult to track the ball’s flight. The fairways were all in immaculate condition. From dog-legs to straight thorough-fares each provided wide and inviting openings for golfers of any caliber. Both the short rough and rough were cut to regulation and after being in them on the first two holes it made me want to be that more accurate with all subsequent drives. Several holes had large and imposing sand traps protecting the greens; which challenged us to be 100% accurate on our pitches to the green. For a course that had received a great deal of water throughout the morning; which was evident at times on the sides of the fairways; drainage was excellent! Conditions could not have been better as it was over 82F when we started with a clear blue sky and a slightly elevated humidity. The Greens were not extraordinarily fast but the pin placements and the slopes of most of them were wonderful challenges. As we did not “warm-up” before-hand, it took us 3 – 4 holes before our drives and fairway shots started to find a rhythm and stay in-bounds! If you are ever offered the opportunity to play here – TAKE IT! If you cannot, please call me to substitute for you as this truly is a Jewel to be enjoyed!
