This club has two outstanding eighteen hole courses. These courses were rated the best public courses in the Washington D.C. and Maryland area for 1994 by the "Metro Golf" readers' poll. The adaptation of old farm buildings adds a particular charm to these courses. Both courses play basically the same, except the River Course requires more shots over the wetlands. The fairways are semi-wide, and the greens are large, undulating and fast. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 2nd "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996. It was also rated as the 5th "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and the 6th best for 1997-98. These courses were built on gently rolling terrain and have lakes, marshes and wetlands coming into play on most of the holes. Watch out for some difficulties on the Lakes Course, especially hole #2, a 347-yard, par 4, because out-of-bounds stakes line both sides of the fairway. This hole has a great view of the nearby harbor. The Lakes Course was chosen the 5th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996. You may play nine holes on a space-available basis only. The weekend nine hole rate is available after 2 PM.
