This course is very hilly, so expect many uneven lies. There are lots of creeks and ponds coming into play on many holes. The signature hole is #16, a 425-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot over water, then an approach shot up a dogleg right fairway. The course does not open until noon on Sunday.

| Not that it is a bad course now. It isn't a course now. It was sold and closed for redevelopment summer of 06. Severe blow to the affordable course landscape here in Raleigh. |

| Cheviot Hills is an affordable golf course for the weekend golfer. However, although it is generally wide open, and a ranger speeds play; the course lacks ball washers at several holes and there needs to be better snacks. This course drains well after a storm. Cheviot Hills uniqueness comes from the 50-60 degree hill between the 17th and 18th holes. If you are walking, this is a real challenge. Although it is not a championship course by any stretch of the imagination, it is moderately demanding due to the hilly terrain. |
