This course has twenty-seven holes, but nine are limited to the stock holders. They offer a wide variety of challenging holes, which cater to the higher handicap golfer. The wide-open fairways are lined by mature trees, and the greens are one of the very few types in the area. On the public course, the front is fairy wide open, while the back gets narrower and much more hilly.

Short but sweet, Jun 08, 2004 |

| Holes on the first and 3rd nines are a bit shorter with the second nine offering some longer and more challenging holes. This "old-style" course (5,964 yards from the tips), which I would characterize as fairly easy, is generally kept in excellent condition. The fairways are mowed pretty short and the greens are generally well-drained and fast. The par 5's are all reachable in 2 and the par 3's offer good birdie opportunities. Many of the par 4's are short and open enough to also offer up some birds. One of the best things is that tee times are not taken so you can walk on anytime. This fact, the close proximity to Raleigh, the RTP, and Cary, plus the reasonable prices, keep it high on my list. On the other hand, if you are a scratch golfer, this course might not offer you enough of a challenge. |

Ball Washers and Water for Your Thirst, Apr 29, 2004 |

| The Raleigh Golf Association course on Tryon Road in Raleigh earns fours stars. I have played it several times over the last five years, and I am pleased with course layout. The hills on 98% of the holes add challenges. The artistic, stone, tee markers listing distance from the blue, white and red tees, and displaying the holes' layouts are great. Water coolers on at least six holes provide relief for thirsty golfers, and a ranger is always present to assist. For a price of less than $20 (before 2 PM weekdays), this is an inexpensive, good, Southern golf course. |
