This course has the feel of being in the mountains with its hilly terrain and heavy population of trees. Each hole has its unique character and many are dogleg configurations. Water comes into play on eleven of the eighteen holes, including #5, a 375-yard, par 4, which has a pond sitting in front of the green. Walking is permitted before 10 AM weekdays and after 1:30 PM on weekends. This course hosted the 1998 Tear Drop Tour event. The 5,769-yard men's tee also has a ladies' course rating of 73.6 and slope of 132.

Greens need attention, Sep 08, 2009

Played course on 9/7/09 - course layout is challenging to high handicappers, but not impossible. Greens were recently aerated and horrible to putt on. Edges of some greens were bare of grass. Rough was thick and challenging to get out of..... shot placement a must. The $62.00 for fees and cart were not out of line for the course, I'll need to come back when there is grass on the greens not holes and sand to see if the course is more enjoyable.

recently moved to triangle area and looking for a club to join, have played 10 in the area over last six months, and this is one of my favorites. Beautiful cared for course with friendly staff, course is challenging but not a heart breaker. Not a big fan of homes on golf courses, but on river ridge most of the homes are well spaced and dont even come into view. I think I found my home course.

"Peaceful Day of Golf"
I found the course to be in excellent condition, challenging and peaceful. Our group played a round in under 4 hours and did not see another golfer the entire day. Very private.

Griffith Park Golf Courses - Wilson Course
"wonderful"
wonderful greens and fairways, every hole was definitely unique and fairly challenging. We were able to find an opening to play on the course on a busy day without making a reservation. Allowed us to bring a spectator, with a price of course. Played both courses and would definitely come back. The only set-back was...there wasn't a beverage cart in sight and the play was pretty slow, had to wait for other players. Overall experience was great and would recommend to others.

Durand Eastman Golf Course
"Good golf for a low price"
This course is an excellent example of Robert Trent Jones' genius. The course is not long, by modern standards, but many holes have elevation changes which make even the shortest of holes interesting and challenging. It winds through a beautiful, heavily wooded section if Durand - Eastman Park and in and out of two hugh revines which makes even your poorest round a joy. Some of the greens feature Jones' unique mounding that makes you think an elephant or two was buried there. The green speeds are not consistent for hole to hole, which makes for some interesting decisions on the pace of your putt, but considering the amount of play the course receives they are usually in pretty good shape for a public course. There are few long holes on the course, but the ones that are long are really difficult to to par. The only complaints I have about the course are; the speed of play (there are many not very accomplished golfers that tend to slow things down) and when the weather is wet the holes in the lower parts of the course stay pretty wet because there seems to be a problem with drainage. All things considered, this course is one of the best values for my golfing dollar that I have ever encountered.
