This looks like a desert course. The fairways were built on rolling terrain, and several large sand and water hazards have been strategically incorporated into the course's design. In fact, water hazards (four lakes) come into play on six holes. The greens are protected by the uniquely original fingered bunkers. The wind can be a major factor here, especially during the late afternoons. Typically, hole #11, a 60-1yard, par 5, plays directly into the wind. The most scenic hole is #10, a 404-yard, par 4, because it features tall brownish grass, a dry river bed, and scenic views of the mountains in the background. Hole #3, a 334-yard, par 4, has a waterfall and a lake that must be hit over on the tee shot. Golf lessons are available at either the indoor or outdoor practice area. The nine hole rate listed is a twilight rate.

Very Challenging, Dec 26, 2009

This course is the most challenging and frustrating course that I have ever played. Most of the tees are blind to the pins. Many, many hazard areas of dense grass, brush, and water to lose your ball into. Much of your time is also spent waiting for players ahead of you to search for their lost balls. If you are not an accurate golfer, bring plenty of throw away balls and have plenty of patience for a very challenging game.

LCC is a beautiful course with low green fees, and I have been a member for the last two years. There are challenging holes on the course and with the high altitude one can reach the greens in two or three shots.

"Hilly experience"
This course is fairly tight with large greens that are exquisite. They roll very well and are extremely undulating....making for putting challenges. Even though the length is about 6200 yds from the back tees, it plays a lot longer than that due to the hills, large greens, and abundant sand.

Hillcrest Country Club
"Miniature Southern Hills"
Hillcrest is an old (built 1926), established, traditional golf course. Originally designed by Perry Maxwell (Southern Hills, Prairie Dunes, Colonial), it was updated in 1980 by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay. The course features tree-lined fairways, lots of doglegs, and difficult small greens. It has hosted numerous USGA Qualifiers, an NCAA regional, numerous OGA state amateur events. While short in length, it plays longer because of the doglegs and elevation changes. Course record is 65 and is held by Justin Leonard and several others. This is an excellent golf course that you will want to play again.

Palma Sola Golf Course
"unfortunaeatly it will be no longer..."
according to an article in The Bradenton Herald the golf course has been sold and will be developed into 542 new homes.This is sad because it was the only walkable golf course in Manatee County. It will be missed.
