This hilly course has large, fast greens. The narrow, tree-lined fairways are fairly flat, but there is some mounding that can cause uneven lies. Water hazards come into play on eight holes, and several sand bunkers have been positioned around the course. "Golf Digest" rated this as the 5th "Best in State" course for 1995-96.

Fun and tricky, May 12, 2004

Arrowhead is not the longest course in the world, but with the ongoing addition of trees on both sides of nearly every fairway. It has become a very good challange off the tee, add in the subtle slopes and mounds from tee to green, as well as numerous elevated greens, making your approach shots anything but simple. If you do manage to knock it tight, I found the greens fast, smooth and very well kept, with your chances of having a dead straight put pretty slim. Finally, if you should find yourself above many of the holes, you had better hope you brought a good putting touch or you could rack up a fair number of 3 putts.

"Tough Layout"
Beautiful layout with a lot of elevation changes and fast, undulating greens. The course also winds through a lot of trees, mostly pines and oaks. First six holes are a real challenge. If you can survive these opening holes with a score that's just a few strokes over par, you may be able to recover by the end. The 15th hole is a monster from back tees, measuring almost 650 yards. Overall, bring every club in your bag.

"Best Public Course in the Southwest"
This golf course is quite different from any state course, or other public course I have ever played. The staff treats you like royalty right when you arrive. The cart attendants load and unload your clubs at the door. The club pros are very courteous. The course is located on the shores of Lake Texhoma, the biggest lake in Texas or Oklahoma. The layout is amazing, with the lake bordering 15 holes. It is very challenging, and very fun. This plot is some of the most beautiful, rolling terrain in all of Oklahoma. The greens are fast, with deceptive undulation, but they are still forgiving enough for the average hacker to enjoy the play along with the scenery. This was a GREAT day of golf. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys challenging golf or just a nice day in a beautiful country atmosphere.
