This course is tight on the front nine, but wide-open on the back nine. Water hazards (ponds) come into play on five holes. The signature hole is #17, a 401-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot up a dogleg left fairway, then an approach to a green protected by water in front and deep sand bunkers on both sides. Willie Ogg added nine new holes and redesigned the others in 1958.

OUTSTANDING VALUE, Jan 23, 2004

Played it many times. Expansive layout, well manicured, nice greens. A little dry at times, but thats the neighborhood. Recent updates such as massive waste-bunkers installed in various locations make it attractive, looks expensive. A very fun course to play. Better than 2 or 3 other courses in the area. Water holes are a challenge and beautifully presented. But don't tell anybody, I like the course to myself. Going back Feb 3rd to the 13th 2004.

Dayton Valley Country Club
"A Real Golf Course, Open All Year."
DVGC is a real test of golf. All the holes are fair and require you to hit shots. 7-9 and 16-18 are some of the toughest closing holes around this area. There are plenty of birdie opportunities if you are on your game, there are also plenty of water hazards if you are off your game. It has been known to blow a little in the afternoon, so play as early in the day as possible. Dayton Valley is a fantastic course with a terrific staff.

Pennrose Park Country Club
"A Tiny Gem for Donald Ross"
Donald Ross designed this 9-hole jewel in the 1920's. It has several tough holes and a number of beauties. Ross used the rolling central NC terrain nicely on this course.
