This course is located in the scenic shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The greens are innovative and sculptured with a lot of undulation and sand. The course offers both open and tree-lined fairways. Those that are tree lined feature narrow corridors, which necessitate pin-point accuracy. There are a number of elevated tees that enhance the scenic beauty of this course. The signature hole is #17, a 190-yard, par 3, which requires a tee shot over two ponds in front of the green. A pair of pesky sand bunkers guard the rear.

Delaware Park Course
"Delaware 2003 review"
Delaware Park is a great place to learn to play golf because it offers open fairways, well maintained greens, no sand or water. There is hardly ever a bag line. There are 18 holes on relatively flat land. The trees present the only problems as many are in the fairways. The course conditions have shown vast improvement recently , especially in 2003 when new tee boxes were planted and benches were placed at each hole. It compares favorably, I think to the 2 other city courses, Cazenovia and South Park. Those courses offer just 9 holes each. The park setting is beautiful. If you want to practice without being intimidated, this is the place.

Although part of it will soon be bulldozed for a car dealership, I highly reccomend getting there while it's still a full 18 holes! Some holes are lacking in creativity, but quite a few give tricky shots over bunkers, mounded terrain, and alongside the Hockanum River. It's relatively affordable, and a fun way to kill an hour and a half or so.
