One of the best courses in Michigan, Oct 18, 2008

I've been a member for 3 years and Katke is one of the great tracks around. From wide open holes (like #1, 9 and 10) to tight but shorter par 4's (2, 5, 8), there's a great variety of holes here. BTW, the greens are the BEST around. We had a problem with a couple of them with disease over the 2007-2008 winter, but otherwise they are always very true and fast. My only complaint is that they over water the course (as most courses do). Playing from the tips is almost tour difficulty.

I have played this course many times and each time has been a delight. The course is rarely crowded and practice tee's make warming up fun and enjoyable. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. All in all, if you haven't played this course, find a member or become a student immediately to enjoy on one of Michigans truly great courses.

"Long time player"
I have played this coarse for the past fifteen years and have seen a lot of good changes. The fairways are in much better shape than in past years. The water hazards are clean and a challenge to the average golfer.The greens are in excellent shape. The only thing that is missing are sand traps. For someone just learning the game and wants to have fun, this is the place.

Mayfair Country Club
"Nastalgic Ross Course"
The Mayfair course brings us back to a time where the longest hitters on the PGA only drove the ball 250 yards. This means that for the majority of men today, you can play this course like the pro's play their championship 7200 yard courses. A good tee shot leaves you with a 7 to 9 iron approach. The signiture Donald Ross Turtle back greens are high and sloped and need to be navagated with thought. The open fairways mean that for the average golfer that is in the fringe or ruff you can still play on without haveing to take too many penality strokes like you do on some narrow house lined courses. In short, this course is beautiful with its tree lined fairways and a good challenge for the average golfer. If money value for course were a catagory this would be a five star.

La Vista Golf Course
"New Name for La Vista Golf Course"
The new name for La Vista Golf Course in Wichita Falls, Texas is HAWK RIDGE GOLF COURSE. This course has undergone extensive improvements the last year and one half. The improvements made have made this into one of the best courses in this area. While I rated it as 3 stars, it could very well be on its way to being rated much higher.
