The mountainous terrain often comes into play, along with some water hazards, as they influence the break on seemingly straight putts. The course is very well maintained. This course is a rare find! Quiet boxed canyon golf course with old growth Ponderosa pines and mountain views. Only 2 fairways are parallel all others are individual holes. Big hitters be-wear high altitude makes ball go far and this is target golf with water, trees in fairway, and small but well kept greens. The staff is friendly/down to earth and the prices are good for the high quality of golf. Hard to find, which makes it quiet through the week and well worth the 25 min. drive from Las Vegas New Mexico.They have hotel and restaurant golf packages that make the golfing convenent and even more afordable. Two thumbs up if your passing through north eastern New Mexico on I-25. Ask at allmost any local store in Las Vegas New Mexico for directions or pick up a local map and your there. Birdie, birdie, birdie.

Hyde Park Golf Club
"Wide Open Drive"
Fairly well kept course, the fairways are wide open for the most psrt, so if you lose your new Titlest, its your fault...There are a few water hazards in challengable spots. Bunkers are all easily avoidable. This is actually a challenging course, but one that wont drive you nuts with every stroke. Its also a pretty good course for those who arent, Arnold Palmer. You have to know your game, but it allows for mistakes, without costing you 3 strokes. The trees are beautiful, and the wildlife around the course adds to the experience. Its nice to find a place like this tucked among the city, and tall radio towers, which are right in the middle of the course, between holes nine and ten, which is the primary problem spot for this course. Its priced right, and a good challenge for the money.

Arroyo Seco Golf Course
"Pretty Good Par 3"
This is a good course to tune up your short irons. It's pretty well maintained (the tees are mats however). Most holes are about 130 yards or so with a pond coming into play on a couple holes. There are no sand traps, but there is a stream that runs through the course as well as many trees. It's a good course to play after work, with your family, or when you don't want to play a full golf course.

"Glorified Cow Pasture"
This is where I learned to play 18 holes. That being said, here's pros and cons: PROs: carts in decent shape, decent greens, challenging hilly course w/water obstacles, pro shop has wood stove and good hot dogs! Affordable alternative to other local courses CONS: no sand to be found on the property (could be a pro...), no driving or chipping area, cart paths mimick Cabarrus county backroads(disrepair),pro shop reminds me of a musty old general store but less merchandise, lots of backyards in which to hit your drives...
