This course was built on fairly flat terrain, but has a spectacular view of the countryside. The course borders the South Twin Lakes. Wildlife, including deer, ducks and geese frequent the fairways. There are several sand bunkers throughout the course, and water hazards that come into play on a few holes.

Challenging and Beatiful, Apr 01, 2004

This course was a beautiful and a must play for anyone that is going to be in that area. The course is relatively short but has many challenging tee shots. There are many large sand bunkers that come into play - so work on your sand game before playing this course. They also have some of the coldest beer around - which is a bonus.

"Not bad..."
For what it is. Your not going to have clubhouse attendants or anything like that. But, all in all, for a nice, inexpensive day out on the course, you can't beat this place.

Royal Oak Resort & Golf Club
"More for Less"
Royal Oak is hidden gem. It offers more golf for less money than any other course in the area. This Dick Wilson designed track has elevation changes and terrain not found on many Florida courses. Sadly, it needs an influx of cash to add to its rating. The two biggest problems that I see are the lack of sand in the bunkers and the club house in need of renovation. You will find the course a great value and the staff congenial.

Texas National Golf Club
"Texas National is a great value."
This is a great course kept in extremely good shape. It is a little far out from Houston but if you live anywhere on the north side, it's well worth the drive. It's inexpensive and not crowded, especially on weekdays. The greens are in very good shape and the course is challenging without being a killer.

Valencia Country Club
"Valencia CC -- one of the finest in the U.S."
Valencia CC is a gorgeous layout and wonderful design that only gets better with maturity. This Robert Trent Jones course is a truly great test of golf. Demanding par fives and threes along with several of the finest par fours I've ever played make for a challenging and wonderful round. The 66,000 sq. ft. clubhouse with wonderful restaurant, grill room, snack bar, and great pro shop make this one of the most beautiful settings there is to play a round of golf. The practice facilities are absolutely great. This is one of the top 100 golf courses in the United States.
