This course was built on rolling hills, so uneven lies in the fairways are commonplace. In addition, a canyon must be crossed on six different occasions. This course rewards accurate shots. There is enough variety of terrain to challenge the most experienced golfer. The signature hole is #7, a 528-yard, par 5, requiring an approach shot to a green which is guarded by a large oak tree, any shot hit into the rough prior to the approach shot won't have a chance at getting by the tree.

The American Golf Course Smells Like CRAP!, Sep 30, 2005
reviewer: Chip from The Peninsula, CA USA
Our tournament scheduled a 90 player modified back nine shotgun and these clowns (American Golf Company?) totally screwed it up! We will never return to this miserable cow pasture of a course. The course was like a SANDBOX, from aerification and they did not notify us of the situation, nor did they attempt to rectify our pain and suffering. The tournament director was unable to correct the wrongs, the assistant general manager was unable to address our concerns, since she stated that there was no way that we could get a refund because the tournament had been closed-out, (whatever that means) and the general manager was out golfing at another course. As we sat in our carts adjacent to the club house, a strong odor was emitting from the cesspool located just behind the #9 green and next to the clubhouse. Several of us were gagging so bad, we were dry heaving and tears were running down our cheeks; it was like someone had taken a dump on the seat right next to you. Extremely unhealthy conditions for anyone; the Health Department needs to shut this course down and declare it a toxic dump. This course isn't worth the drive from the peninsula and if I wanted to smell what I smelled there, I'll go to the Greyhound Bus Station in the downtown area of Oakland, California. I tried to give this course 'negative stars' but the system program wouldn't let me.

I am closely affiliated with Franklin Canyon Golf Course, Oct 23, 2004
reviewer: hmm...anonymous from The Franklin Canyon Area
Franklin Canyon has the most energetic, compassionate and willing to help employees in all of the American Golf Corporation. All of your questions will be given close attention and adequate answers, your food prepared just as the cooks would eat it themselves and all problems will be fixed to the best of the employees capability. In response to the parking lot crime: Yes, there are many cars broken into but especially when cell phones and CDs are left in plain view! How do you know whether you will like something unless you try it for yourself? Hopefully I will see you soon!

THE MARSHALL!, Aug 31, 2004
reviewer: ANN from CALIFORNIA
I PLAYED THERE TODAY IN A FOURSOME. THERE WERE 2 FOURSOMES AHEAD OF US THAT WERE SLOW. FOR SOME REASON, THE MARSHALL DID NOT TELL THOSE 2 FOURSOMES TO MOVE ALONG, BUT HE TOLD US TWICE-- THE FIRST TIME TO SPEED IT UP WHEN WE COULD NOT BECAUSE OF THE FOURSOME IN FRONT OF US AND THEN MADE US PICK UP OUR BALL ON THE 9TH HOLE. WHEN WE GOT TO THE 10TH HOLE, THERE WERE 2 FOURSOMES READY TO TEE OFF. NOT ONLY DID WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR MOST OF THE HOLES, AND THAT DETRACTS FROM YOUR GAME, AFTER THE MARSHALL MADE US PICK UP OUR BALLS,MY GAME WAS GONE FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. THE MARSHALL NAME BY THE WAY IS NELSON. AND WILL I PLAY HERE AGAIN? I DO NOT THINK SO!

Overpriced - Overrated, Apr 09, 2004
reviewer: OLLIE from Hayward, CA
Overpriced: Just not worth the $ Overrated: Par 5's are too easy with minimal difficulty, your Handicap will suffer. Another American Golf DISASTER! Poorly managed, with a high turnover rate, the worse driving range in the industry, range balls are poorly maintained, poor customer service, 6 hour rounds "guaranteed" and one of the highest crime ridden parking lots in the entire state of California. AVOID THIS GOLF COURSE AT ALL COSTS!!!
