This old mountain course was carved out of the woods and is very steep and hilly, so expect uneven lies. The design resembles a "clover leaf" in which every third hole comes back to the clubhouse. Since many holes were built on top of hills, you can expect breathtaking views of the majestic Catskill Mountains. There are no sand bunkers, but water hazards come into play on four holes. The signature hole is #7, a 550-yard, par 5, featuring an uphill elevation change measuring 200 feet from tee to green. Locals claim that only one person ever made par on this hole. The driving range is unique because it's situated on a dam and you hit your balls into the water. Soft spikes are strongly encouraged but not mandatory.

North Shore Country Club
"Great Bay Side Holes, and Tough"
Play this in the wind and you'll find your handicap is a little too low. Northshore is a wonderful course with great bay views on the 4 bayside holes. And Don't miss the gator on hole 12, the cormorants on number 3, or all the other birds during the migratory months. In winter the rye overseed makes Northshore one of the best courses in all of South Texas.

Desert Hills Golf Club
"What a golf course should be."
I have played this private course 5-6 times since 1992 and have enjoyed it every time. Recently I played as a guest in a small tournament and the course was in excellent condition. There are 8 other courses in this retirement community, several owned and managed by large course management groups, but they are not in the same class as this one as far as quality is concerned. There are few if any divots on the greens, all players seem to be very conscious of divot repair on the entire course, including the rough, facilities are clean and fresh, clubhouse is pleasant and modern and the staff is great. I have just joined and am thrilled to death with a life-time membership to look forward to!

Leawood South Country Club
"The place to be!"
Leawood is one of the finest courses I have played in years. The greens are smooth and the fairways are quick. Play this course if you have the chance.

Springfield Golf Club
"Dakota's Pebble Beach"
One would hardly expect to find a gem like the Springfield Golf Club in this rural setting in an agricultural state such as South Dakota. This course demands your best game with keeping the ball in the fairway a premium. Although not a long course, the long hitter does not have a major advantage. Tree-lined fairways are expertly maintained and the greens are challenging. All of this quality golf is accompanied by some of the most beautiful scenery in the state. The course is built on bluffs overlooking Lewis and Clark Lake and the view from every tee is extraordinary. This wonderful nine hole golf course has earned the right to be called Dakota's Pebble Beach.
