This flat course has water hazards that come into play on four holes. The front nine plays much tighter than the back nine, and the greens are very small. This course's most difficult hole is #5, a 400-yard, dogleg left, par 4, requiring an uphill tee shot through trees and then a very difficult approach shot.

Better than ever!, Sep 27, 2004

If you haven't played this course in several years, you are in for a shock! Newly renovated in 1999, Russellville Country Club now sports bent grass greens and new routing. The greens are great and there is a ton of grass now! You won't regret playing here. Give it a go!

Hyde Park Golf Club
"Wide Open Drive"
Fairly well kept course, the fairways are wide open for the most psrt, so if you lose your new Titlest, its your fault...There are a few water hazards in challengable spots. Bunkers are all easily avoidable. This is actually a challenging course, but one that wont drive you nuts with every stroke. Its also a pretty good course for those who arent, Arnold Palmer. You have to know your game, but it allows for mistakes, without costing you 3 strokes. The trees are beautiful, and the wildlife around the course adds to the experience. Its nice to find a place like this tucked among the city, and tall radio towers, which are right in the middle of the course, between holes nine and ten, which is the primary problem spot for this course. Its priced right, and a good challenge for the money.

North Shore Country Club
"Great Bay Side Holes, and Tough"
Play this in the wind and you'll find your handicap is a little too low. Northshore is a wonderful course with great bay views on the 4 bayside holes. And Don't miss the gator on hole 12, the cormorants on number 3, or all the other birds during the migratory months. In winter the rye overseed makes Northshore one of the best courses in all of South Texas.
