This course was built on hilly terrain and has undulating, fast greens. The fairways are in excellent condition. There is one creek that comes into play on five holes. The west side of the course is heavily wooded. "Golf Digest" rated this as the 2nd "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996, and also rated it the 4th "Best in State" course for the years 1995 through 1998. Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek added nine new holes and redesigned the others in 1928.

Best Public Golf Course In Vermont for 2003, May 03, 2004
|reviewer: Harold Weissman
from Rutland, VT USA
|Golf Digest rated this course #4 in the country for public access courses over 100 years old . Golf Week rated it #1 in Vermont for public access courses. The course is always well maintained. The greens are small, undulating and FAST. The fairways are well manicures, tree lined and tight. If you want to score well you must keep your approach shots below the pins. Do not let the length of the course fool you. The par 3 #5 plays all of its 225 yards and is considered one of the most difficult in the state. The course has been host to the Vermont Amateur as well as being a regional qualifing course for the U.S. Senior Amateur.|
