This course was built near the Atlantic Ocean. The terrain is very hilly, and many deep sand bunkers have been incorporated into the course design. The fairways are wide open, but there are water hazards that come into play on seven holes, including #2, a 156-yard, par 3, requiring a carry over a pond. The club replaced three holes with three new ones in 1997. This club was originally founded in 1895 and has been listed by the USGA as one of the first 100 clubs established in the U.S. In addition, "GOLF Magazine" recognized it in their 1995 list of "The First 100 Clubs in America."

| I have been playing this great game for 31 year;s and have been fortunate to have played 49 of golf digest;s top 100 that were ranked in 1986 and many other fantastic gourses around the world.I was also a member at 4 other courses over time and finally made to my all time favorite in new england on our 100th anniversary in 1997,a ross design that has gone thru some major changes since 1995 but they kept the challenge and absolute beauty in this property, thats why there is a 4yr. waiting list, now that Iam retired I play about 5 times a week and honestly never get tired of the track and when it get;s a little slow {which is rare} we just sit there and look at the ocean views and say how very lucky we are.Play it if you have a chance. |
