This extremely scenic course was built on the natural landscape. The terrain is hilly, so you can expect uneven lies and several elevation changes. This course's most scenic hole is #4, a 214-yard, par 3, with a forty-foot elevation change from tee to green. The multi-tiered greens are large, so three-putting is common. There are water hazards (streams, lakes, creeks, and ponds) that come into play on sixteen holes. The signature hole is #17, a 239-yard, par 3, featuring an elevation change of fifty feet from the tee to a green guarded by water and sand bunkers. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 3rd "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and 2nd in 1997-98. "GOLF Magazine" ranked it 34th among the "Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S." It was also the only course in Louisiana ranked in "GOLFWEEK's" 1997 list of "America's Best 100 Modern Courses," where it placed 100th. The 6,000-yard men's tee also has a ladies' course rating is 75.0 and a slope of 139.

Best of the Best, May 29, 2004
reviewer: Derrick Lerette from Delcambre, LA USA
I have played courses from Texas to Florida and from Louisian to Virginia and I have yet to find a more impressive course. This course is very unique and challenging. The stay in the golf villa was like a five star hotel. I highly recomend this course to anyone planning a golf trip withing a 100 mile radius of St Francisville.

Wow!!!, Mar 19, 2004

One of the most difficult courses I've played in a long time. We played from the tips-7100 yds, and it was all we could handle. It's setting is in an area called The Felicianas. An Arnold Palmer designed course, that uses the natural contours of the land to flow through beautiful old growth forests of live oaks and pine. Amazing elevation changes (*for Louisiana)that makes one second guess club selection. The greens are "Champion" grass and are extremely fast and difficult to read because of slopes, and the subtle nature of the few flat spots out there. We had no trouble getting on, and the pace of play was great-just under 4 hrs. I would highly recommend this course, it's the best "open to public" golf in the state, that I have played. Not to mention just how wonderful St. Franisville is. This whole area is a diamond in the rough...
