This course has several lakes and streams coming into play, and many trees can alter your shots. The fairways are wide, and the greens are large. Hole #4, a 315-yard, par 4, requires a tee shot onto a dogleg right fairway, and an approach shot over a stream that crosses in front of the green. Guests staying at the Phoenix Inn can play the course for half price just by showing the starter their room key.

The front 9 on this coarse is challenging enough to keep your intrest yet forgiving enough to take the sting out of an occasional bad shot. The back 9 seems designed as an after thought and is a bit boring. Overall though a well kept coarse and very affordable for the average working man or woman.

One would hardly expect to find a gem like the Springfield Golf Club in this rural setting in an agricultural state such as South Dakota. This course demands your best game with keeping the ball in the fairway a premium. Although not a long course, the long hitter does not have a major advantage. Tree-lined fairways are expertly maintained and the greens are challenging. All of this quality golf is accompanied by some of the most beautiful scenery in the state. The course is built on bluffs overlooking Lewis and Clark Lake and the view from every tee is extraordinary. This wonderful nine hole golf course has earned the right to be called Dakota's Pebble Beach.

"It is what it is."
This is a no-nonsense par 3 course. Course is flat and wide open. Excellent place to get in a practice round or take kids or beginning golfers to. Low handicappers will not find this course challenging with the exception of a few water hazards. Fees are $15 monday through thursday.
