Enjoyable Golf, Sep 30, 2008

Golf at McCanless is enjoyable. Reasons Why: 1.The personalities of the Owner, General Manager, Greens Superintendent and the other employees. 2.The personalities of the members. 3.Consider the weather during the past couple of years -- this course is kept in much better condition than most of it's counterparts. 4.Casual golfers and guests become members because they not only like the course and it's management, but enjoy meeting the current members. And, do not let the ratings fool you as you need to be a reasonable golfer with it's fairways that are not too wide and have the ability to hit balls above and below you feet. The cost of 9 or 18 holes or a membership? It is quite reasonable. Call them and find out.

"If you get the chance to play..."
great course requiring the use of all clubs in the bag. most holes are quite challenging,at least for this (15) handicapper. most holes require keeping it in the fairway, or it's trouble. water comes into play on a few holes. blind tee shot on 18 can be a killer. don't pass up the opportunity to play! finally, being from out of town was made easier by the friendly staff.

Yes, I played tippy twice last summer, I was impressed the greens are well manicured, as are the fairways, the rough, although nearly nonexistent is playable. The fairways are hilly and narrow. Overall, it was a nice playing course for your average golfer. P.S the food in the clubhouse is excellent, try the bunger burger.
