This is one of the oldest and most storied courses in the area. The course underwent a $6 million restoration project under the supervision of Bob Cupp in 1998. The traditional-style layout features towering oak and pecan trees, as well as Salado Creek, which crosses the course eight times. An abundance of trees bordering the design also offers a secluded feel. Gently rolling fairways and subtly-undulated greens make the most of the natural terrain. The signature hole is #14, a 467-yard, par 4, which features a dogleg right fairway lined with trees and a lake to the right and culminating in an uphill approach to a very large green. In 1968, Pecan Valley played host to the 50th anniversary PGA championship, as well as the 1967, 1969, and 1970 Texas Open's. "Golf Digest" rated this course 46th among the "Top 75 Public Courses" for 1990.

Best Course in San Antonio - The Ledgengs play here., Mar 05, 2004
|reviewer: Christopher Larson
|Pecan Valley is absolutly fantastic. I played on March 2nd 2004 and boy I was surprised at how great the greens are and the friendly staff was. Only paid $80.00 a round and had a great experience. There are plaques posted on the course where Ledgens like Arnold Palmer and Chi Chi Rodriguez hit thier shots from in the 50th PGA Championship , and the Texas Open Championship played there. Staff is wonderful and friendly. Well worth the afternoon my friends and I spent there.|
