This course has a creek on one side and a canyon wall on the other. It is a nice walking course with not too many hills. The greens are always in great condition.

Always a Challenge, Feb 23, 2004

This Course whether a good or bad golfer offers a challenge each time out. The greens are always in great shape and the price is good. With friendly regulars hanging around and a good place to eat you can always count on tecolote canyon golf course for a quick and fun fill of golf.

Tecolote offers more than just great golf. They have Lessons that let you play for five dollars, also they give you five free rounds with six hours of lessons. They have it all, driving range and a creek that offers great scenery throughout the course. This course you have to play.

Merion Golf Club - East Course
"Best Ever"

Oakmont Country Club
"Tough but Fair"
Oakmont is a picturesque layout in the foothills of Glendale with lovely mountain views. The course is an old-style country club layout which rewards well planned out shotmaking. The greens are usually very fast and reward players for being below the hole. The Pac-10 Conference Championship was held at Oakmont in 2003 and only two players broke par (288) in a field of 50. The players found the par 3's particularly challenging. The greens are very well protected with sand bunkers and the fairways are heavily tree-lined. Best time to play Oakmont is in the spring and fall. I find the twelfth hole to be the most challenging. It is a 420 yard par four, uphill and terraced. The green is long and narrow, two-tiered and protected by a large bunker on the right and a drop-off hill and trees on the left.

"Shape your game"
I grew up the area playing this course weekly for many years.I shaped my game at this little gem. Sixteen years later I play golf in Austin and work with a team of middle school golfers. As for Hilcrest...The first 3 holes are par 3s.(W/9,5/6, W/SW) They added some water to number one and moved the tee years ago. It puts a whole new spin on number one. People are less likely to hit the cars in the parking lot and/or Mr. Wilson's house too. Huge pines could save your ball from a feild(now the driving range) on the left if you are hooker.People teeing off on number eight and on 7's green also come in to play for some bad slicers. Three had a huge Oak that came into play for high wedges coming in from the left side. Water fountain at 4 was nice In July and august. Number 4 is a ~310yard par 4. Little ditch running accross about 270? made many people lay-up. Eagleable on many days. Another par 3 follows a treeline for Hole 5 and then my favorite par 4 is next. Over a wide lake...that eats up every bad slice for righties. Another eagleable ~300yarder. The lake has nice size bass in it too. Seven is the only par 5, a dogleg to the right. Eight is a par 4 with a huge ditch eating drives by the minute. And we end with a par 4, left dogleg that is reachable with a crush over the corner. Lights added make night golf fun! Drving range is huge so you have plenty of swing room.
