This course is semi-hilly and very wooded. There are five ponds that come into play on ten holes. The signature hole is #17, a 395-yard, par 4, requiring a shot past water protecting the front left of the green. The ladies' par is actually 74.

A Top 10 Public Course in Metro Syracuse & CNY, Aug 09, 2005 |

| The Elms Golf Club is one of the finest public, 18-hole courses you'll find in metro Syracuse and Central New York. Play this course from the tips and you'll be challenged by its many changes in elevation, doglegs, water hazards and wooded surroundings. My favorite hole on the front was #8, a dogleg left par 4 with a drive over a creek with a tree-lined fairway down the entire left side that block any approach shot that isn't far enough or straight enough to clear the corner. My favorite hole on the back nine was #13, a dogleg right, par 4 wherein the approach shot is over a small ravine...no running the ball up onto this green. Another challenging hole on the back was #17--the club's signature hole. With the exception of the distance between holes 12-13 and 17-18, the course is easily walkable and enjoyable. Play is at a nice pace. The Pro, Scott Hilton, is very likable and accommodating to locals, groups and out-of-towners. |
