This course renovated its greens prior to 1997. One of the main attractions on this course is its beautiful signature hole, #6, a 232-yard, par 3. This holes features both a scenic lake, plus a creek that flows alongside the fairway. All the fairways are narrow, and the greens are very fast. A wide variety of different-shaped greenside sand bunkers have been incorporated into this course's design.

| I used to play Santa Teresa once or twice a week when I lived down there and I loved it for all it offered but since moving and finding Santa Clara I'm enjoying a new home course. Simply put, you don't find municipal courses like this one. From it's clean well stocked pro shop to it's large full featured practice range and combined chipping area and putting green this place let's you know up front you'll be enjoying your round. For a quick snack or beverage before you head out there's a snack bar or try David's restaurant for something more substantial afterward. Both are located right by the pro shop and practice green and David's even host banquets and receptions with fine food. Now that we've covered the secondary things you might ask "so how is the actual COURSE though?" I can't say it's the best there is or that I haven't played better but it IS well maintained, well marshalled, scenic, challenging and fair, and definitely more then you'd expect from a small town municipal course. This isn't a horrifically long course at 6704 yds from the tips but several doglegs combined with blind approachs, water, and bunkers make it a challenge. This especially holds for the first timer and consider that most regulars play from the back tees making it a respectable 6329 yds. Even without the Santa Clara residence discount one would still be getting a great rate here even with the slight increase last week of a few bucks. This course is always perfectly ready it seems and unlike some other courses the groundskeeping crew seems to work invisibly leaving nary a trace (much less giant mulch piles) of their presence. Every ball washer is always clean and filled, every water cooler is cold and full, every tee properly marked and positioned.... Sounds too perfect? Well, there are several small spots where water pools on the cart paths and other areas but all things considered I can highly recommend Santa Clara Golf and Tennis Club for anyone. |

| The Santa Clara Course was revamped several years ago. The indices are now: 118, 116 and 111.
It is well maintained, although there was some standing water in a couple fairways after the heavy rains.
Santa Clara residents get reduced rates. |
