This difficult course is purely natural, and takes wonderful advantage of steep barranca, which runs all through the back nine. The design also consists of many trees, sand bunkers, and rolling hills that will affect your shots. However, hitting over the barranca is the main challenge. Play the par 3's well at this Santa Cruz landmark and you can have success. Alister Mackenzie lived just off hole #6, and this was one of his last course designs before dying in 1934 at the age of 63. "GOLF Magazine" chose it 17th among the "Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S." for 1998, 73rd among the "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." for 1995, 68th in the same category for 1997 and 65th in 1999. "GOLFWEEK" selected it 42nd among "America's 100 Best Classical Courses" for 1997, 39th in 1998 and 41st in 1999. "Golf Digest" rated it as the 8th "Best in State" course for 1997-98, and in the category of "America's 100 Greatest Courses" the publication named it 83rd. This course played host to the 1986 U.S. Women's Amateur and is the annual site of the Western Intercollegiate Championship.

Awesome course set in California beach town, Jul 07, 2004

Pasatiempo is the best course that I have ever played. Alister Mackenzie, the architect of many courses including the legendary Augusta National (Home to the Masters Championship), named this course his masterpiece. The entire course is natural as it flows through valleys and over barancas. Throughout the course there are beautiful views of Santa Cruz on the Monterey Bay. This course is a must play for avid golfers.
