Course and Service Far from Country Club Quality, Jun 14, 2010 |

| I played one of the courses this weekend because I had a $40.00 gift certificate to use. They have been running ads saying that you could play on the weekend for $40.00 with a cart and lunch. My two playing partners paid $40.00 and got a lunch voucher. I used my $40.00 certificate and was told by the grumpy kid with an attitude in the clubhouse that I could not get a lunch voucher with my certificate. The course is hardly country club quality; I would rate it an average municipal course. The greens and sand (mud) traps were soaked when we played. Even the poor cart girl (who was friendly) was driving around in a cart with a regular ice chest you could buy at WalMart. One of the two courses is open to the public since membership is probably down and they are trying to raise money and attract new members. I WOULD NOT recommend this course to anybody! |

| Actually...these are Trevino designs (along with Dave Bennett). You are thinking about the Horizon Country Club (now Emerald Springs and public) where Lee Trevino was the club pro. That is the site of the famous showdown with Raymond Floyd that was written about in Golf Digest a few years ago. |

| I have played both courses and know the history of them. This place is going to be one of the premier golfing facilities in the southwest. They have gone through their share of problems, but both courses are private, and are wonderful. This a must play if you can get on!! |

| The Santa Teresa course was NOT designed by Lee Trevino. He was the club pro there when the club house was a mobile home. The course is fairly challenging, but not much to look at. |

Jaws will get you, Jul 13, 2004 |

| Santa Teresa is on the rise, it has been struggling for membership but recently has returned to its former members only status. It is poised for growth and offers much in two 18 hole courses designed by Lee Trevino. The course is in excellent shape and the greens are challenging making it an excellent course for beginners and experienced golfers. Not Crowded at all. Watch out for their signature 14th hole (Jaws) it will leave you frustrated unless you play it just right. Membership is a bargain for the quality of golf play. |
