This very narrow and hilly course has tree lines and a standard cut of rough bordering all its fairways. Water hazards come into play on ten holes. The large greens are severely undulating and lightning fast. The signature hole is #13, a 401-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot over a beautiful waterfall. Hole #15, a 138-yard, par 3, features a peninsula green.

| One of a few public courses around Cashiers, NC, Sapphire Mtn gets roughed up by the end of the summer, but the magnificent views and surroundings more than make up for the divots and ball marks. If this course had the budget and exlusivity of thw Wade Hampton or Cullasaja Club, it would be ranked among the prettiest. Although, the level of difficulty and short overall length would keep the big hitters and more skilled away. I love to play here anyway. P.S. Hole #13, magnificent as any. Although multiple golfer's websites say that you must drive over the beautiful waterfall, rather you must take your approach shot up and over the waterfall that is pouring out the overflow from Fairfield Lake in the shadows of beautiful Bald Rock Mtn. Don't miss a canoe trip or hike around this lake. |
