This course was built on hilly terrain, so expect uneven lies on the tree-lined fairways. All the greens and tee boxes are elevated. The signature hole is #9, a 393-yard, par 4, requiring two lengthy shots in order to reach the green in regulation. Caddies are mandatory if you choose to walk the course.

Great tillinghast classic course; excellent condition. tight driving holes, slight elevation changes, but an easy course to walk. Greens have very sutle breaks, makes them tricky. Rough is thick. long and difficult. Great expierience, staff very,very friendly. Made for a very enjoyable day

FRONT 9 HAS HILS WATER AND TRAPS WELL TAKEN CARE OF. RIVER RUNS THROUGH FRONT 9 WITH PONDS AND TIMBERS. BACK 9 PRETTY FLATT WITH NARROW FAIRWAYS. A COUPLE OF CREAKS, PONDS, WOODS AND NARROW FAIRWAYS TO DEAL WITH. MAPLEWOOD HAS A TWO TEAR DRIVING RANGE, PRACTICE GREEN, RESTRANT AND FULL BAR AND PARTY ROOMS. FREINDLY SERVICE WITH A REFRESHIMENT CART THAT RUNS ON THE COURSE FOR NEEDED DRINKS.

Wendigo Golf Club
"3 today 4-5 tomorrow"
18 months ago this course was finally purchased by someone who really wanted to make a statement about the course. They finally finished off the exiting log structure into a beautiful clubhouse/restaurant/bar. With fantastic views of the course, there are few clubhouses that can beat this "19th hole". The course itself did need some work, the greens looked like they had had some issues over the winter. There are plans underway to relocate holes 8 & 9 (which is a good thing, they are probably the most blah holes on the course) and build a 60 room hotel. All-in-all the course is still one of my favorite courses up in GR. Some TLC to the greens and this course is one of the best in northern Minnesota.

Stonehouse Golf Club
"Stonehouse, a "keeper""
I played Stonehouse in September of '03 and thoroughly enjoyed the round. While looking intimidating from some of the tees, there is sufficient landing room for your tee shot. It's a very hilly (not for walkers) and picturesque course, demanding accuracy on the par 3's and requiring an accurate carry over a ravine on a number of the holes (not for the faint of heart). Am looking forward to playing it again!

Desert Dunes Golf Course
"Awesome Links Course"
This course is a hidden gem in the desert. The holes are all long and narrow, the greens are always in fantastic shape (except in July and August but it is a 110 degrees anyway). Watch out for desert rabbits, they are everywhere. The course might be a little to windy from June through September.
